Land Transportation

is the crucial link in your logistics chain, responsible for moving goods across the ground. It encompasses road and rail services that connect suppliers, warehouses, ports, customs, and final customers. We offer robust and flexible land transport solutions to ensure your cargo moves efficiently through every stage of its journey.

SERVICE DETAIL

Pre-Carriage: From Supplier to Warehouse/Sea Port

Pre-carriage refers to the movement of goods from the supplier’s location (factory, warehouse, etc.) to the main departure point for international transit (usually a sea port or airport). This is typically the first leg of your global journey.

Road Freight (Trucking)
  • Door-to-Door Flexibility: Road transport offers the most flexibility, allowing for direct pickup from virtually any supplier location.

  • Cargo Types:

Full Truckload (FTL): The entire truck is reserved for your cargo. This is ideal for large shipments, offering reduced handling, enhanced security, and faster transit times.

Less-than-Truckload (LTL): Your cargo shares space with other shippers’ goods. This is a cost-effective solution for smaller shipments, where you only pay for the space you occupy.

Service Scope

  • From Supplier to Our Warehouse: Goods are picked up and brought to our dedicated facility for inspection, consolidation, or storage before the main international move.

  • From Supplier to Port of Loading (POL): Goods are moved directly to the sea port for timely loading onto the vessel, ensuring all cut-off times are met.

Rail Freight (For Inland Connections)

  • For Long Distances & Bulk: Rail is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly option for moving large volumes of cargo over long inland distances.

  • Intermodal Transport: Combining road and rail is a common strategy. A truck performs the initial ‘drayage’ (short haul) from the supplier to the nearest rail terminal, the train covers the long haul to the port city, and another truck completes the final short haul to the Port of Loading.

On-Carriage: From Sea Port to Customer

On-carriage refers to the inland movement of goods after they have been discharged from the main international carrier (vessel or aircraft) at the port of destination. This is the final and often most critical stage, concluding with the last-mile delivery.

A. Port Handling and Drayage

Once the container is discharged from the vessel at the Port of Discharge (POD):

  • Customs Clearance: Your freight forwarder manages the import customs clearance process (see section 3).

  • Drayage: A specialized land transport service (truck) is arranged to pick up the container from the port terminal. This short-haul movement (drayage) is typically from the port to a Container Freight Station (CFS), a bonded warehouse, or directly to your final destination.

B. Delivery Options to Customer

After clearance and port pickup, we manage the final delivery, which is essential to meet customer deadlines:

Customs and Compliance Interface

Land transportation is inseparable from customs procedures, especially during on-carriage.

  • Transit Documentation: For goods moving under customs control (e.g., from the Port of Discharge to an Inland Container Depot – ICD, or a bonded warehouse), specific transit documentation (e.g., T-1 document) is required to legally move the goods before duties/taxes are paid.

  • Border Crossings (International Land): For cross-border land movements, detailed planning is required, including:

    • Customs Brokerage: Pre-lodgment of manifest and clearance documents to prevent delays at the border.

    • Security & Compliance: Adherence to international road transport agreements and safety regulations.
